From Malta to Maribor: My Erasmus+ Mobility Experience

My name is Isaac Agius, I am 18 years old and live in Malta. For the past two months, I have been living in Maribor and working as an auto mechanic at Štajerski Avtodom.

The company has been fantastic, offering a supportive and engaging environment. I feel valued and included, which makes working there enjoyable and fulfilling. The experience has been overwhelmingly positive, with opportunities to learn and grow professionally while working alongside a dedicated and collaborative team. The company covers all aspects of vehicle care and sales, from skilled mechanics and spray painters to a showroom for new cars and a well-stocked parts department.

My time in Maribor was a wonderful blend of relaxation and exploration. I did a lot of activities, including go-karting and shopping at Europark, and I also had a great time swimming at Maribor Island. Along with my friends and ZNI mentors, I went hiking on Pohorje Mountain, which was a unique experience, as we don’t have anything like that in Malta. It was nice to connect with nature. My friends and I also took a memorable trip to Lake Bled, where the stunning scenery of the island and lake was surreal. We swam in the lake, rented a rowing boat, and visited Bled Castle.

This experience taught me valuable life skills, including how to live with others, cook for myself, and manage my laundry. Evenings were spent relaxing with friends, watching movies, and enjoying the local atmosphere. Overall, it was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and personal growth. I appreciated the local atmosphere and made the most of every moment.
