HYRIA

Aino - Kaisa and Tessa are two Finnish students from the group HYRIA. They both did their internships in the winter 2017,  which lasted for a bit more than one month. They were staying in Koper, working in its Youth Centre (Center mladih Koper) and beside fulfilling their tasks given by their mentor Mojca, they also cotributed a bit to multicultural environment in the Center by showing their traditional Finnish sport. This sport is actually very simillar to baseball, and they both train reguraly, almost every day.
Their first days in Koper were quite though, since that was the first time for them both to stay in a foreign country alone for some period of time. Fortunately another mobility participant from Hyria, named Jussi - Pekka, who worked as a security man in the company Luka Koper, helped them by getting to know the city and reducing their homesickness.

Aino - Kaisa Laakso

Already before having started working in the Youth centre, Aino expressed her rapture about the beauty of Slovenia and its cities, culture, food. After having spent her first days in Maribor she moved to Koper and visited the old town of Piran, which is located near to it.
Internship in the Youth centre brough some her many new friendships. Her daily schedule was sometimes even more than 8 hours long, since it depended on the projects and social events, some which used to last until very late at night.
Her most memorable events included Karaoke night, Carneval party, Slovenian evening for foriegn Erasmus+ students, musical concerts and lectures for adults.

As a girl coming from the north of Europe, she enjoyed mostly the sunny weather at Slovene coast, to which she was not quite used, specially in that time of year.

Tessa Vahvelainen

Tessa worked together with Aino and had to to the same tasks mostly, under the supervision of the same mentor. Therefore, she also enjoyed her internship more or less the same way as her Finnish colleague and friend. Helping the employees at the Youth centre meant also preparing the place for the events and cleaning the area after the events were finished.
During their free time, both girls explored all the towns at the coast, did a boat trip and travelled also a bit further, for example to Venice in Italy. And the shopping and physical workout was not to be missed out, that's for sure! :)
