LEARNING TO PLAY II project

At the initiative of the Maribor Kindergarten Community, the Municipality of Maribor applied for a new project in 2018 through the European Erasmus + call, under activity KA101: Mobility of school staff. This project is a continuation of the previously successfully implemented 'Learning to Play' project. Once again, the Municipality of Maribor (MOM) acts as the applicant and consortium holder, with six Maribor public kindergartens as consortium members:

  • Vrtec Borisa Pečeta Maribor,
  • Vrtec Ivana Glinska,
  • Vrtec Jadvige Golez,
  • Vrtec Studenci Maribor,
  • Vrtec Jožice Flander Maribor,
  • Vrtec Pobrežje Maribor.

The Institute for New Age Education collaborates closely with the Municipality of Maribor in the implementation of mobility and the operational aspects of the project.

The purpose of the project

With this project, the Municipality of Maribor, as the founder of kindergartens, aims to enable:
  • Further professional development of employees by upgrading skills, competencies, and personal qualities.
  • Transfer of good practices from abroad to home kindergartens.
  • Establishment of contacts and collaboration in an international environment.
  • Development of innovative working methods and better organization.
  • Better response to the changes taking place in Europe.
  • Improved preparedness to work in a multicultural environment.

Opportunities for employees in kindergartens

In addition to their professional competencies, mobility participants will also upgrade their personal qualities and soft skills, including flexibility, tolerance, foreign language communication, openness, resilience in facing obstacles or fears, and a willingness to solve problems and adapt to new work environments.

Content of the project

The project offers employed educators and management staff from six Maribor kindergartens practical professional training abroad. This training involves assisting educators in working with children in groups and monitoring the progress of work in those kindergartens.

Content of practical training

The practical training focuses on:
  • Innovative methods of working with children.
  • Diverse activities in the kindergarten, including regular, enrichment, and additional activities.
  • Building effective cooperation with parents.
  • Efficient organization of work in the kindergarten, covering groups, premises, the work of educators, and nutrition.
  • Training for staff development.
