I’m Rafael, a student from Escola de Comércio do Porto and I’m doing my Erasmus+ work practice at ZNI. Participants of my group are: Luís Mendes (doing work practice at marketing agency Verus); Pedro Rubim e Leonor Sousa (doing work practice at marketing agency MI6); Luana Monteiro (doing work practice at daily centre Pika.dnevni center); Ana Santos (doing work practice at marketing agency Rdeča oranža). Last Saturday my group went for a day trip to Bled. We were looking for travelling there since the beginning of the mobility program!

Bled is a town in the Julian Alps, famous for the Bled island and Lake Bled. It’s loved by backpackers who come for the hiking, biking, water-sports and canyoning possibilities. If you want to go visit other nearby locations then you are going for the right site. Bohinj and Vintgar Gorge are as beautiful as Bled, and they are pretty close as well. Me and my group chose to travel by train because it is the cheapest way to get there from Maribor. We paid 15 euros for return ticket. The trip took 5 hours to go and 5 hours to come back. It was a little exhausting, I have to admit it, but it worth it at the end. We just went for a day, but I think that is a trip to make in a day or two. It was raining, but not too much. We went on an autumn day, so the scenery was surrounded with wonderful colours.

Bled is a nice place for a day hike. If you want you can walk around the lake. It takes 1-2 hours to complete a round. We did around 20km of walking, so I advise you to take a good pair of shoes ;)
If you have time, you can go to Bled island by rowboat. You can rent one for 25 euros per hour. Me and my group loved the paddling experience, since we’ve never paddle before. We were really excited about it!

On the island you can visit the Church of the Assumption (the main point is to ring a bell and make a wish) and a small museum for 6 euros. On the way to Bled Castle stop to visit St. Martin Parish Church: it’s a Gothic Revival structure, built from 1903 until 1905.

If you’re up for a dessert, you should absolutely try the a famous dessert from Bled: Bled cream cake ("Kremšnita")!

At the end of the day go to a viewpoint and take a landscape photo during the sunset. But most importantly, take time to appreciate the stunning view.

If you visit Bled, I am sure you will love the nature environment!
